The
Sci-Fi-short-film »Activate the Good Spirits, Haunt the Toxic
Ghosts« tells the story of a collective of five beings in the
future. They live autonomously in a mountain valley and on a glacier.
The topography of the valley has been shaped over thousands of years
by the glacier’s forward and backward movements. The glacier
itself only exists in a very decimated state at the end of the
valley.
The beings live and work collectively. The minds and the bodies of the collective are adapted to the climatic changes, their equipment and clothing is informed by their living conditions. It remains open whether they intervene in the climatic conditions by using scientific methods or healing practices or if they communicate with someone outside the valley using instruments of political activism.
In the film, we get to know the mythical figure of the »Salige« which is transformed into the future and queer-read and has been hand down in Alpine legends for centuries. We meet the glacier bear and the tree man, whose figures refer to the Tyrolean carnival, which in turn is linked to pagan customs. The cloud and the radioactively contaminated fish, both of which are characterised by environmental factors, complete the collective.
